About

Our History

Ancient Wisdom Essential Oils (AWEO) opened its doors in 2002 with a simple vision: to make high-quality, pure essential oils available to people looking for natural ways to support their everyday well-being.

Before founding the company, Don Held had already developed a deep appreciation for essential oils and their many traditional uses. With a background in Chemistry and Zoology from the University of California, Davis, Don brought together his scientific education, entrepreneurial experience, and passion for essential oils to create Ancient Wisdom Essential Oils.

Since its beginning, AWEO has grown from a small operation into a company serving distributors and customers across multiple countries. Throughout that growth, one principle has remained at the heart of the company: quality comes first.

We are committed to offering essential oils that are 100% pure, genuine, authentic, plant-derived, and unadulterated, without the addition of carrier oils or unnecessary additives. We carefully select our oils with the goal of providing our customers with products they can feel confident using and enjoying.

Founded on Quality and Choice

Ancient Wisdom Essential Oils was built around the belief that the choice is yours.

Whether you are looking to purchase essential oils for your own use or interested in building a business as a distributor, AWEO offers options designed to fit your needs.

Our customers can enjoy access to our collection of pure essential oils and oil blends, along with the convenience of our auto-ship program. Customers participating in the auto-ship program may also be eligible to receive a complimentary essential oil each month, subject to the program’s current terms and requirements.

For those interested in becoming a distributor, our program provides an opportunity to build a business and earn commissions based on applicable distributor guidelines.

Our Founder — Don Held

Don Held is the founder of Ancient Wisdom Essential Oils.

As a young man, Don earned degrees in Chemistry and Zoology from the University of California, Davis. His interest in fitness, nutrition, and making quality choices has been an important part of his approach to life and business.

Don was first introduced to essential oils through Young Living. After spending five years working with the company, he developed an even greater appreciation for essential oils, their production, and the education surrounding their use.

That experience eventually led Don to establish Ancient Wisdom Essential Oils with the goal of continuing to provide high-quality, pure, plant-derived essential oils.

An entrepreneur for much of his life, Don has always enjoyed helping people discover products and ideas that can become part of their everyday lives. That passion continues to guide the company today.

Our Mission

At Ancient Wisdom Essential Oils, our mission is simple:

Provide high-quality essential oils at a fair price while treating every customer with the personal care and attention they deserve.

We believe quality should not have to come with unnecessary costs. We work to keep our pricing competitive and pass savings along to our customers whenever possible.

Our essential oils are selected for their purity and quality. We do not add carrier oils to our essential oils or blends unless specifically indicated as part of a particular product.

We are proud to maintain the personal service and attention of what many customers have affectionately called a “mom and pop” shop. Every order represents a real customer, and we believe every customer deserves to be treated with care.

Whether you have been using essential oils for years or are just beginning to explore them, our goal is to provide quality products, personal service, and a company you can trust.
